This travel bug bit me

Have you seen Departures on National Geographic Adventure Channel? It’s breathtaking! Almost suffocating me. A mixture of reality show, documentary and travel show that filled with adventure, road trips, nature beauties, every day cultures, life lessons, friendship and humor. Framed by breathtaking sceneries and photography. It captures the world in a humble style. Not glamorized nor pretentious. It follows Scott Wilson (co-creator) and Justin Lukach, who are childhood best friends from Canada, traveling the world. They went to all edges of the world, mostly non tourist places, just to see, to feel and to be. No fancy hotels, no concierges, no shopping schedules, no script. Just real life and real travel.


They went to Antartica, Cuba, Ascension Islands, Japan, India, Madagascar and many more. So far, my favorites are Mongolia, Brazil, Iceland and Zambia. I saw them rode reindeers and sleeping in a traditional teepee in Mongolia. I saw them climbing trees and swam with pink dolphins in Brazil. Climbed glaciers in Iceland and slept on a house tree in Zambia. What a life! What an experience! For me, there are never travel show like it. There are never lifes like theirs.


And the candid humor? The conversations? Hilarious! Those two are perfect characters, a perfect yin and yang.

The moving pictures are beautifully shot, wide and i don't know how they somehow felt romantic to me. Andre Dupuis (co-creator + director + director of photography) is a genius! Each episodes are edited in an effortless tempo with an awesome fit music. It won a Gemini Award in 2008 for Andre Dupuis (Best Photography in an Information Program or Series: India Quest for Himalays) and a Gemini Award 2008 nomination for Joshua Eady (Best Picture Editing in an Information Program or Series: India Quest for Himalays). High quality indeed!

I’m bitten. Hard.
Desperately wanting to pause my life and just travel.
